GRAMMY® Award winning pianist, saxophonist, bandleader, composer, and arranger GORDON GOODWIN has been nominated in four different 2015 GRAMMY® categories – Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, Best Instrumental Composition, Best Instrumental Arrangement and Best Arrangement Instrumentals and Vocals – as announced by The Recording Academy. The nominations are both for Goodwin individually as an arranger and composer, and with GORDON GOODWIN’S BIG PHAT BAND for their album Life in the Bubble. Goodwin is the only jazz artist with four nominations this year. With the new nominations, Goodwin and his group have had a career 20 nominations, with three GRAMMY® wins.

– Best Instrumental Arrangement: Get Smart (Gordon Goodwin, arranger)
– Best Arrangement Instruments and Vocals: Party Rockers (George Goodwin, arranger)
Life in the Bubble was released on Telarc, a division of Concord Music Group, in May 2014, and was inspired by Goodwin’s realization that in an age of universal of access to unlimited amounts of information, people are growing less connected and increasingly isolated. Often rollicking and upbeat, yet occasionally reserved and contemplated, Life in the Bubble explores this sense of isolation.
“The musical philosophy of the Big Phat Band has, from the beginning, pushed back at these kinds of limits,” says Goodwin. “This is a band made up of a group of musicians with diverse interests, and wide skill sets, and we have always strove to break down barriers between musical styles.”
GORDON GOODWIN’S BIG PHAT BAND initially emerged in the late 1990’s, enduring since that period with a consistent and loyal following, despite the ever-changing whims of musical fashion. Over time, Gordon and his crew has released seven studio albums that merge traditional big band sounds of the 1930’s and ‘40s, with a contemporary vibe. The group’s recordings have featured high-profile guest artists including Arturo Sandoval, Brian McKnight, Eddie Daniels, Chick Corea and Dave Grusin, to name a few. Since 2003, Goodwin and the group has won three GRAMMY® Awards
